Matt Sesow and Dana Ellyn have been vibrant fixtures of Washington, DC's art scene since the early 1990s, painting professionally and making waves with their bold styles. The two artists first crossed paths at one of Matt’s solo exhibitions in 2001, and their connection sparked not just a partnership in life but also in art.

In 2013, their collaborative journey began when Dana dared Matt to 'add his signature lips and teeth' to one of her finished paintings. From that playful challenge, the DEFILED series was born—a bold and unpredictable creative process where one artist 'abandons' a painting, leaving it to the other to complete.

Together, they’ve created a captivating body of work that’s as surprising as it is powerful—each piece a fusion of two artistic visions colliding in harmony.
