Matt Sesow and Dana Ellyn have lived and painted professionally in Washington, DC since the early 1990’s. The couple met at one of Matt’s solo exhibitions in 2001 and they’ve been creating beautiful artwork ever since. They began collaborating on paintings in 2013 after Dana had challenged Matt to finally “add his signature lips and teeth” to one of her completed paintings. The idea behind the DEFILED series of collaborative work is that one of the artists abandons a painting and hands it over to the other person to “finish”.
